Margaret Unsworth, QC

Ministry of Justice and Solicitor General, Edmonton

Call: 1984

I am coming to the end of my term as a Bencher and seek your support for a further three year term. I am currently General Counsel in the office of the Assistant Deputy Minister of Justice (Alberta Justice and Solicitor General) with a legal practise covering a wide range of strategic legal concerns. As senior legal advisor to the Government of Alberta, I have provided advice to Alberta for over 30 years and have represented the Attorney General of Alberta at all levels of Court including the Supreme Court of Canada.

I believe firmly in the responsibilities and obligations that flow from being a member of a self-regulated profession. During my time at the Bencher table, I have participated in many adjudications, am currently the Law Society of Alberta representative with the University Of Alberta Faculty Of Law, am on the Policy and Regulatory Reform Committee of the LSA and have served on the LSA Executive. With your help, I look forward to continuing service to the profession as a Bencher with the Law Society.
